Regarded
a long time as the form "Borneo" of Phalaenopsis violacea, this
Phalaenopsis is now considered for species has whole share. It differs
from Phalaenopsis violacea only by its colouring, some morphological
details and for his different perfumes. The most visible element
relates to the petals. For Phalaenopsis bellina, they are oval and
obviously widened, whereas for Phalaenopsis violacea the petals
are elliptic. The petals of Phalaenopsis bellina measure generally
more than 1,3 cm broad, whereas the petals of Phalaenopsis violacea
seldom reach 0,7 cm. The "point" finishing the three sepals of Phalaenopsis
bellina form an isosceles triangle whereas at Phalaenopsis violacea
the triangle is more or less equilateral. Leaves are also broader
for Phalaenopsis bellina.
The fragrances are different
and this prove that this two plants don't have the same pollenisator
agent . For
Phalaenopsis bellina perfume composition is 64% of geraniol added
with 36% of linalool. The composition of the perfume of Phalaenopsis
violacea comprises also these two agents but with, in addition elemicyne
(55%) and alcohol cinnamylic (27%).
